Jonathan Éthier is a partner at Spiegel Sohmer and is one of Quebec’s most technical and in-demand tax lawyers.
He regularly represents clients in litigation against Revenu Québec or the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) before the courts. Jonathan is a seasoned litigator and has represented taxpayers before the Quebec Court of Appeal, the Court of Quebec, the Tax Court of Canada, and various other government bodies in Canada and Quebec.
He assists his clients at every stage of a complex tax dispute: tax audits, objections, legal proceedings, and settlement negotiations with the tax authorities.
His expertise covers income tax (corporations, individuals, trusts), consumption taxes (GST/QST), source deductions, and voluntary disclosures.
He also practices tax planning involving corporate reorganizations, business acquisitions and sales, trusts, and estate planning.
Jonathan is a regular guest speaker and author on tax issues.
