Legal Assistant in Commercial Law

We currently have a great opportunity for a Legal Assistant in Commercial Law.

 

Main responsibilities:

 

  • Proactively assist the lawyer in the management and follow-up of his files
  • Plan workload and ensure timely completion, including implementation of follow-up actions as appropriate
  • Prepare legal documents according to templates or as directed by lawyer
  • Maintain agenda and files
  • Draft letters, memos, and any other documents required by the lawyer
  • Format, proofread, and edit documents
  • Prepare and layout PowerPoint presentations for conferences as directed by lawyer
  • Keep track of client files to ensure proper management and appropriate customer service
  • Perform tasks of an administrative nature such as opening and closing files, conflict searches, time entry, billing, credit notes, filing, etc.
  • Perform other related duties

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Diploma in legal secretarial studies (an asset)
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in the legal field, in a similar position
  • Very good level of spelling and grammar
  • Perfectly bilingual (French and English)
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Good knowledge of Kofax/Nuance PDF

Corporate Paralegal

Main Responsibilities:

 

  • Assist lawyers in transactional matters
  • Draft various corporate and tax documents: constitutions, organizations, amendments to articles of incorporation, dissolutions, share transactions, extra-provincial registrations, rollovers, estate freezes, mergers, tax reorganizations
  • Perform all other transactions, such as due diligence on purchases and sales of businesses
  • Maintain up-to-date minute books for our corporate clients (electronic and paper versions)
  • Performs any other duties as required

 

Qualifications:

 

  • DEC in paralegal techniques or equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years experience in the field performing similar functions

Main responsibilities:

 

  • Perform short-term replacements or occasional tasks for lawyers practicing in different areas of law
  • Plan workload and ensure timely completion, including implementation of follow-up actions as appropriate
  • Prepare legal documents according to templates or as directed by lawyers, with little or no supervision
  • Draft letters, memos, and any other documents required by the lawyer
  • Transcribe dictations
  • Format, proofread, and edit documents
  • Performs tasks of an administrative nature such as opening and closing files, conflict searches, time entry, billing, credit notes, filing, etc.
  • Coordinate with other departments internally and with other services or organizations externally
  • Correspondence with the various parties involved (clients, bailiffs, opposing lawyers, etc.)
  • Perform other related duties

Estate planning Lawyer or Notary (3 to 5 years and 5 to 7 years of experience)

Our tax and estate planning department, comprised of over twenty lawyers, continues to grow. We are presently looking for a lawyer or a notary (2 positions) with 3 to 5 years and with 5 to 7 years of experience.

 

The candidate we are seeking will be involved in the drafting of wills, mandates and trusts, in preparing and implementing post-mortem tax planning, as well as administering and liquidating estates.

 

Perfectly bilingual, the ideal candidate will have excellent drafting and negotiating skills.
