Lawyer in Tax Law

 

We are presently looking for a tax lawyer with more than 7 years of experience.

 

The candidate we are seeking will be involved in personal and corporate tax planning, corporate reorganizations, estate planning and post-mortems.The person will advise on a wide range of tax issues, including purchase and sale of assets and shares, shareholder agreements and employee stock option plans.

 

Perfectly bilingual, the ideal candidate will have a Master’s degree or a Specialized Graduate Diploma in Taxation (D.E.S.S.) or will have completed the CPA In-Depth Tax Course.

Lawyer in Tax Litigation

 

We are presently looking for a tax litigation lawyer with more than 7 years of experience.

 

The candidate we are seeking will be involved in all aspects of tax litigation, including GST/QST/HST, corporate tax, personal tax, deductions at source, audits, objections, collections and voluntary disclosures.The person will represent taxpayers before tax authorities, from audits to appeals before the courts.

Collection Manager

 

Under the responsibility of the General Manager, the person sought will assume the following responsibilities:

 

  • Track accounts receivable using the Maître Collection software in accordance with our policies
  • Make calls to clients, answer their questions and solve problems
  • Contact lawyers to determine the appropriate strategy for overdue accounts
  • Prepare collection files (sending letters and coordinating procedures)
  • Draft proofs of claim and communicate with trustees
  • Receive and process checks
  • Prepare monthly statements of account and credit notes
  • Participate in end-of-year file

 

The candidate must have a college degree in administration, at least five (5) years of experience in collection and be bilingual. Legal experience will be considered an asset. The candidate will have excellent negotiation skills and advanced oral and written communication skills in both English and French. In addition to excellent analytical skills and the ability to solve various problems independently, the candidate will also offer outstanding customer service, both internally and externally.

Director of Accounting Services

 

Reporting to the General Manager, the individual will have the following responsibilities:

 

  • Ensuring sound financial management in compliance with accounting laws and principles;
  • Bookkeeping and accounting for the firm;
  • Administering the accounting system;
  • Management of inter-company accounts, liquidity and payment agreements with the lawyers;
  • Ensure compliance with the policies of the office and the regulations of the Bar as regards the management of and transactions affecting trust accounts;
  • Supervise and coordinate the work as well as provide support and training to the accounting staff under his/her responsibility;
  • Establish and monitor budget estimates;
  • Prepare internal monthly financial statements and annual audit file;
  • Ensure that internal controls are in compliance with the firm’s policies and procedures and ensure their effectiveness;
  • Coordinate the sending of annual statements of the lawyers to the Barreau du Québec;
  • Ensure proper follow-up and good relations with financial institutions;
  • Assist the General Manager in special projects.

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS 

  • Five (5) to seven (7) years of experience in the field (preferably in a professional firm);
  • CA and/or CPA (required);
  • Proficiency in all MS Office 2010 applications (particularly Word and Excel at the advanced level);
  • Knowledge of the following software: IManage Workfile and the “Suite Master 8” accounting software (an asset);
  • Advanced oral and written communication skills in both French and English;
  • Ability to supervise a team and to guide it through changes, propose new work procedures and suggest innovative approaches;
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems;
  • Positive attitude and solution oriented;
  • Experience in a law firm would be an asset;
  • Attention to detail and excellence.

We are presently looking for a commercial litigation lawyer with 3 to 5 years of experience.

 

The candidate we are seeking will work independently or as part of a team in commercial litigation files involving shareholder remedies and commercial contracts, real estate litigation and construction litigation. The person will meet with clients, analyze files and develop strategies, write opinions, reports and procedures and will also plead before the courts.

 

Perfectly bilingual, the ideal candidate will have excellent pleading and negotiation skills.
